Grade: 5th
Subject: ELAR/SS
Topic: Biographies
Description: After reading a biography on a person of their choice, students analyzed the biography, did some further research, and produced a digital collage with symbols, images and written explanations using Polaris powerpoint app, drawing tools, the camera tool (for selfies with their biography — a student suggestion that caught on quickly) and Google Images. They learned how to search Google Images using the licensing rights and how to insert images and draw timelines. Students chose categories from a menu. They shared their product with third grade reading buddies and the class. Students collaborated together to become more proficient in using Polaris and the tools.
