Grade: 8th
Subject: Math
Topic: Approximate the Value of an Irrational Number Digitally
Description: Using a drawing program, such as Google Drawings or Google Slides, students can create digital number lines to approximate the value of an irrational number. As an extension, students can use Screencastify to explain their thinking while creating the number line or locating the approximations on a number line.
Math TEKS: 8.1 (E) create and use representations to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas; 8.2 (B) approximate the value of an irrational number, including π and square roots of numbers less than 225, and locate that rational number approximation on a number line;
Technology TEKS: 8.1(A) identify, create, and use files in various formats such as text, raster and vector graphics, video, and audio files; 8.2(B) communicate effectively with multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats; If use extension activity, then also include 8.6(N) integrate two or more technology tools to create a new digital product.
