iPad Stop Motion Videos for Potential/Kinetic Energy

Grade: 6th Grade

Subject: Science

Topic: Potential and Kinetic Energy

Description: Students demonstrate their understanding of potential and kinetic energy by creating stop motion videos with the iMotion app on an iPad.  Their creations included an original backdrop and moving object. They modeled the changes in potential and kinetic energy with a modified bar graph, where the different colors represented the different types of energy.

Science TEKS: 6.8A compare and contrast potential and kinetic energy; 6.9C demonstrate energy transformations such as energy in a flashlight battery changes from chemical energy to electrical energy to light energy

Technology TEKS: (1) Creativity and Innovation Research and information fluency. (A) identify, create, and use files in various formats such as text, raster and vector graphics, video, and audio files; (B) create original works as a means of personal or group expression; (C) explore complex systems or issues using models, simulations, and new technologies to make predictions, modify input, and review results (2) Communication and Collaboration (B) communicate effectively with multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats;

4Cs:  Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity
