Ozobot Challenge: Shapes, Area, Fractions

Grade:  3rd

Subject:  Math

Topic:  Ozobot Challenge: Shapes, Area, Fractions

Description:  Students will take their knowledge of 2D shapes, area, and fractions to complete the challenges using the Ozobots. Students work in groups to create Ozobot tracks to complete math challenges. This can be used as a review/ culminating activity for area/geometry and fractions.

Math TEKS:  3.6C determine the area of rectangles with whole number side lengths in problems using multiplication related to the number of rows times the number of unit squares in each row; 3.6B use attributes to recognize rhombuses, parallelograms, trapezoids, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories 3.3A represent fractions greater than zero and less than or equal to one with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 using concrete objects and pictorial models, including strip diagrams and number lines.

Technology TEKS:  (4) Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. The student researches and evaluates projects using digital tools and resources. The student is expected to: (A) identify information regarding a problem and explain the steps toward the solution; (B) collect, analyze, and represent data to solve problems using tools such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, graphic organizers, charts, multimedia, simulations, models, and programming languages.
